It's Down to the Sweet 16

March Madness is now down to the Sweet Sixteen and heading fast for the Great Eight this weekend and of course the Final Four next weekend. What better place to make some bets and watch the games than the The Superbook at the LVH hotel and casino (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). With twenty-two large monitors, including eleven giant screens, eight wagering booths and the largest wagering menu in the state of Nevada, the Superbook is hard to beat. LVH has all the modern amenities you’re looking for in a sportsbook while at the same time providing a bit of an old school feel. Grab a cocktail and talk point spreads with some of the grizzled Vegas old-timers you’ll find at LVH- who knows you might pick up a good tip.

And speaking of tips, there’s plenty of good action to be had tonight and throughout the weekend as the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament rolls on. There are four games tonight, starting with Baylor (-6) taking on Xavier at 4:15 PST and North Carolina (-10.5) up against 13-seed Ohio at 4:47. In the later games, tourney-favorite Kentucky seeks to avenge its only regular season loss as 9.5 point chalk over Indiana and Kansas (-8.5) takes on NC State.

Lines are also up for Saturday’s Great Eight matchups as well. It’s a battle of 1 and 2 seeds in the East Region, with 2-seed Ohio State favored over Syracuse by 3. In the West, meanwhile, it’s been upset-city-babeee!!! as top seeds Missouri and Michigan State have bitten the dust, leaving 4-seed Louisville and 7-seed Florida playing for a trip to New Orleans for the Final Four. And actually, it’s the 7-seed Gators favored in this one by 1.5 over Rick Pitino’s Cards. A 7-seed favored over a 4-seed? Shows you what the tournament committee knows, right? We’ll side with Vegas on this one and lead towards Florida.

Here’s the real tip of the day for Friday: take the Kansas Jayhawks and lay the points against NC State. The Wolfpack are red-hot, but Kansas is coming off a mighty scare against Purdue in the second round. They should be an angry bunch tonight, and coach Bill Self will want to rebuild some confidence in his team by not just winning the game- but winning big. Mark Gottfried’s NC State team has had a great run, but the magic fizzles tonight against a much more talented Kansas team.

Best After Hours Club on the Strip

As the lights begin to come on at most clubs a mob of late night party animals gather around the velvet rope inside Bill's Gamblin' Hotel... Why you ask? Obviously to go to what I would rate the best after hours club on the strip, Drai's. After working your way through the ropes you'll be stamped and escorted onto an elevator that takes you down to After-party HQ! The crowd will be jumping once you step out and you'll see the techno/house dance floor bouncing away to the best smash mix that can be heard at til 9am or so.

On the other side of the glass an entire other club can be seen behind the VIP tables along the wall. The hip hop room at Drai's keeps the non-house fans shaking their tails to the newest hip hop music out. Both rooms have a great VIP table selection along with plenty of room to dance the night away. I'm not exaggerating... you will literally dance the night away and not realize until you leave the club and the sun hits you like a bolt of lightning, shocking you back to reality.

When you want the party to keep going after "last call" everywhere else keep in mind that Drai's is done when you are done. As far as I can tell there is no set closing time and they base close off on how many people are still there. Good Place, Good People, Good Morning!!!
