Don Pablo's
You can get Cuban cigars in Las Vegas. Cuban-made cigars, that is. Actually, it’s cigars made by Cubans, or in many cases, Dominican (when a Cuban can’t be found). The tobacco is grown from seeds smuggled out of Cuba in the early 1960s, or so say the guys that run Don Pablo Cigar Co. They have a veritable factory in there, rolling cigars in trusted traditions, handed down from generations of cigar rollers. The aromas alone make the trip worthwhile. Some of the leaves are cured in liqueurs and cognacs, while the plain Jane, Cuban-rolled variety sell for $2.50 a stogie. Pipe smokers welcomed here. So are the kids, who can take the 2-cent tour of the place and watch 15 Cubans do their thing.
