Or Just Celebrate Your Final Fling
Every four years the number of marriage license applications and weddings in Las Vegas takes a big leap, especially in February. Is it because there are 80 or so wedding chapels, many of which are open 24 hours? Is it because you can get a wedding license anytime day or night, any day of the week? Actually, it’s because many couples want their wedding day to be the most unique day on the calendar…February 29th, Leap Day, which only occurs every four years. As many as 115,000 couples are expected to get married in Las Vegas in 2015, more than 300 a day. In fact, better than 3 million couples have tied the knot here, including hundreds of celebrities like Britney Spears (click to see marriage license application), Dennis Rodman, Elvis, Michael Jordan, Frank Sinatra and many others. But the bigger question is this…is Vegas a better wedding location or the place you go to have your blowout final fling? If statistics captured by VegasHotSpots.com since last summer are any indicator, Vegas is the #1 destination in the U.S. for bachelor and bachelorette parties and growing faster as a hot spot for parties than for weddings. Of course, we’re happy to have everyone here anyway, so let’s take a look at what we think are the hottest spots in Vegas for “newlyweds” as well as “nearly-weds.”
Bachelor & Bachelorette Hot Spots
Bars – For guys and girls alike, start the process of getting trashed at The Beach, our choice for the “Best Place for Body Shots and Beer Pong” All night long the house combines rock-and-roll and hip hop with showers of napkins and toilet paper, liquor and whipped cream body shots off bikini-clad hotties and six-packing surfer boys, and crazy contests.
Entertainment – It’s good to be bad and here is where the boys and girls go to be bad. Guys must take in the Skyboxes at Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club, our choice for “Best Strip Club VIP Experience.” Think Staples Center meets Pleasure Palace. Ladies also just want to have buns, so head on over to the “Steamiest Male Review” at The Men of Sapphire. The only choreographed show in Vegas that offers lap dances!
Recreation – Marriage is often described as wonderful and risky adventure. Get your adrenaline pumping before you take the plunge…and we mean for guys and gals. Push it to the limit at the “Best Place to Speed (without getting a ticket)” at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Pound a 600-horsepower Nextel Cup race car up to 160 mph at least once before you end up in minivan hell. Or get one last chance to see your single life flash before your eyes on the XScream ride dangling over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower, 866 feet above the Strip, our choice for “Most Insane Thrill Ride.”
Shopping – It’s all about the accessories. You can’t cruise the Strip in anything less than the hottest Italian wheels, so make your first stop off the plane Rent-a-Vette, the “Best Place to Rent a Ferrari.” Then drive over to Don Pablo’s and pick up a handful of fine Cuban-made cigars to savor throughout your Bacchanalian weekend.
Restaurants – A non-stop weekend of partying requires fuel and you never know when that urge will hit (or when you’ll wake up). We like to chow down before we call it a night, so you might find us at the Grand Lux Café in the Venetian having the “Best Midnight Snack.” On the other hand, some people like to start their day with breakfast no matter when they wake up, so we recommend the Original Pancake House, our pick for the “Best Breakfast All Day.”
Hotels – The average size bachelor or bachelorette party is 14.1 people, and let’s face it…none of you are expecting to sleep much. So don’t spend a lot on your room and save the money for nightlife and entertainment. No need to bunk at Motel 6, however, so check out our pick for “Best Beds for the Buck,” found at Luxor Hotel and Casino.
Wedding Hot Spots
Recreation – There is no better place to propose than nighttime at the top of the Eiffel Tower, 460 feet above the panoramic view of the Strip, with the Fountains of Bellagio splashing in the background. “Best Place to Propose.”
Entertainment – She wants to married on a cruise ship, you want it to happen in Vegas. There is a solution that will make you both happy…have the ceremony performed on the Sirens of TI pirate ship in the lagoon in front of the TI Casino (formerly Treasure Island). It’s our pick for “Best Themed Wedding Spot.”
Nightclubs, Bars & Lounges – You’ve done it. You’re married. Toast your union at the sultriest lounge with the most breathtaking view of the Strip, the Foundation Room atop Mandalay Bay Resort Casino, our favorite for “Best Private Club.”
Hotels – You’re married. You’ve had your champagne and a romantic dinner, and you’ve got the lingerie. Now you desire 300-count sheets, high-end contoured mattresses, killer view…“Best Beds in Town” at the Palms Casino.
Gaming – Unusual numbers and events may be harbingers of a change of luck. Feb. 29 only comes around every four years, so why not take your chances at the tables. And why not make it an event and hang out with the stars. We suggest the Palms Casio as the “Best Blackjack Tables for Celebrity Spotting.”
