Top 10 Places to Stand on Top of the World in Las Vegas

One of the greatest feelings in the world is standing on a sheer cliff on a single rock looking down to the ground around you and witnessing the beautiful world that lies there waiting for you. After clearing your mind and taking a deep, deep, deep breath the only thought that enters your consciousness is the only place I’d rather be is in Vegas! Well it’s not too late to make it happen and when it does, here’s a list, in no particular order, of the hottest spots in the best place on earth to feel like you’re on top of the world.

flightlinez10. Flight Line Fremont Street

OK, so it’s not really standing at the top of the world, except for when standing at the top of the scaffold while they hook you up but it is a unique view of Fremont street that can’t be found anywhere else on Fremont Street. Zipping down Fremont street on a zip line is certainly a unique experience.

If you are looking for something a bit more substantial then Flightlines also operates some zip lines in Bootleg Canyon near Boulder City. They have four zip line runs there and each has four parallel lines so that you can enjoy the ride with three other friends.

balloon9. Hot Air Balloon Rides

During the cooler parts of the year one of the best ways to see Las Vegas from the air is a hot air balloon. Balloon rides are typically in the early morning as the Sun is rising or in the evenings when the Sun is setting. This is mostly due to the calm weather conditions and visibility. There’s nothing like cruising over the Las Vegas valley looking down from a few thousand feet with nothing between your feet and the ground except a basket.

Mount Charleston is the highest mountain in the surrounding Las Vegas valley and is part of the Spring Mountain mountain range and tops out at 11,916 feet (3,632 m). During the summer it’s usually about 20 to 30 degrees cooler than in Las Vegas so for a retreat from the heat, it can’t be beat.

There are some incredible hikes such as the hike to Mary Jane falls, which is a fairly short hike but with some steep switchbacks, but it’s well worth the effort. In early spring you may even find snow and ice lingering around the falls.

During the winter months there is the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort. Yes, that’s right, skiing just an hour away from Las Vegas. It’s not a really big resort with just four lifts but it’s only an hour away from Las Vegas and there is plenty of fun for the novice and advanced skiier and boarder.

eifel7. Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas is part of the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino complex and was built in 1999. On the way up, the history of the original tower in Paris is recounted by the friendly and knowledgeable attendant, adding to the charm and infusing another dose of authenticity into the entire experience.

The observation deck–an impressive 460 feet from ground level–is one of the most fantastic spots to get a panoramic view of the city of Las Vegas. In whichever direction one turns, there is another beautiful city landmark just waiting to be discovered. Visitors can trace the whole of Las Vegas Boulevard as it winds its way through the city in the North, while in the east, they can see the gorgeous mountain range just outside Vegas.

There are openings and telescopes scattered all across the observation deck for visitors to take in unobstructed and breathtaking views of the city and photograph away to their hearts’ content.
